Beyond the lab
Outside the lab I read, cook, practise yoga and occasionally build things that fly. This page is a short, informal account of that.
Reading
I read mostly literature and philosophy, and I like books that stay with me after the last page. A few I keep returning to:
- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe Benjamin Alire Sáenz
- Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World Benjamin Alire Sáenz
- Gunahon Ka Devta Dharamvir Bharati
- The Alchemist Paulo Coelho
- Man’s Search for Meaning Viktor E. Frankl
Writing
I write about people, emotions, relationships and the small turns of everyday life: reflections, letters and thoughts that do not fit anywhere else. Some of it is on my blog, somewherewithin.github.io, and I have also written content for shiningforever.in. Neither is fully up to date. I am still working on both and add to them whenever I find the time. At IIT Bombay I also edited for the department's editorial board, where I interviewed alumni about their careers and wrote for the department magazine, newsletters and social media.
Cooking
I enjoy trying new recipes, ingredients and cuisines. For me cooking is a hands-on way to learn: you change one thing, taste, and find out what happened.
Yoga
I completed NSO Yoga at IIT Bombay and took on the 54 consecutive Surya Namaskar challenge.
Making things
I earned an Exemplary Design & Innovation Certificate in a two-month RC plane competition. My MS101 project was among the top 24 of more than 700 undergraduate projects and was shown at the IIT Bombay project exhibition.
